Depeche Mode Locations

Postby jimb » Fri May 19, 2006 1:09 pm

I recently discovered this interesting site that shows all of the Beatles and Rolling Stones most important London locations.

I was wondering if anybody has ever done anything similar for Depeche Mode. For instance where did they all meet up or first play in Basildon?

I live fairly close to the bars in which they had their first residences - Crocs (now the Pink Toothbrush) is about 4 miles away from me, and the Top Alex (was Fish & Firkin, now The Alex again) is about 4 miles in the other direction....

The nice thing is that both venues still offer alternative music with a reasonably easy-going crowd.

Basildon didn't have any gig venues in the early 80's, and still doesn't have a scene now, hence their travails in Southend and East London.
