I am currently obsessed with an album called "Chiarscuro" by a Swedish duo called I Break Horses. Atmospheric synthpop/chillwave combo w/ airy female vocals. Kinda fits in with the M83 and Naked & Famous stuff but much more influenced by ambient... the whole album is awesome, but I keep coming back to the more-upbeat track "Weigh True Words": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSU72wk53ss

Ascension, Denial and Berceuse are other standouts for me... but I typically play through the whole album twice every time I listen. Curious to hear what you guys think of it.
I've come back crazier... but feel much better.

I have been playing this album in my car this week, but am still assessing how much I like it...Ascention is growing on me so far. There are some off-kilter sounds in some of the tracks which I find interesting...

An alternative history to alternative rock

Its not complete, its missing out a few key components, but that can happen when youre trying to sum up a picture of what happened in a decade over a span of documentaries

The key scene missing in this scenester is ambient techno and rave, where there were the likes of future sound of london, the orb for electronic music
There were others for rock missing, such as Manic Street Preachers and Fugazi

Other bands that were key in the 90s were Queens of the Stone Age, which fused heavy/ stoner rock

If anyone is devoid of ideas, have a listen to KEXP Seattle!

They played Yaz/ Yazoo's "Bad Connection" the other day, mixed up with some current releases which dont sound too far removed from the quality of music from back then :)
