I think they developed alongside Recoil.

I always recomend Junior Boys.
Their music is strongly influenced by Depeche Mode even if they don't know it lol!

My son, heavily influenced by Depeche Mode is now producing his own music as Evil Dust. On Spotify and Soundcloud

IMHO DM fans should check out The 1975. Musically and lyrically, there are differences. But, particularly those who appreciate the early poppy DM should check out songs such as "Ugh!" and "Paris".

Yukihiro Takahashi's albums "Blue Moon Blue" and "Page By Page" are on Spotify and definitely worth a listen IMHO. His most recent album on Spotify, "Life Anew" is much less electronic and not the best first listen for DM fans; "Life Anew" would be better for Eagles fans. Yukihiro Takahashi is/was the drummer and most frequent lead vocalist of the Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO), one of the notable late 80s/early 90s synthpop bands.
