"The Cure" is one of my favourite bands. Their music is fantastic: at least, I can say that about the period of 1980-1984 and 1989-1994.

They have been utterly forgettable since 96.

the later albums were not bad, Bloodflowers, and 3:14 Dream were both strong records.

Well like i posted earlier i've become quite distant from them due to a lot of things. I still think they were a superb band in the 80s but they never really managed to leave that decade, not like Depeche Mode has or even U2 dare i say.
Bloodflowers was an embarressingly failed attempt to recreate Disintegration and those other two albums were disjointed pop filler.

The Cure is one of my favorite bands...

I've seen them in concert years ago. I, too, enjoy their later albums as well--especially Bloodflowers.

They've just announced a full summer of festival appearances without anything to promote, set lists full of pre-1996 oldies, they really are turning into dinosours now.

According to a friend of mine, he went to a Cure concert and thought it was boring and Smith stands there like a statue and emotionless.

not that I know of, I've never seen them in concert to give my opinion.

Thats pretty much accurate. The first time i saw them was at the Oxegen festival in 2004, there was a mass walk-out halfway through the set.

Does anyone know why their official forum has been inactive for over a month?
