Yes indeed. Every album has its pros and cons, it depends what is happening in your life at that time which track(s) affect you.
From reading a lot of posts on the forum, Exciter is not the most popular but for me the track 'When the body speaks' is outstanding and the version on the 'One Night in Paris' dvd is very moving for my own personal reasons. I really like Exciter.
But I liked 'Spirit' on first listen and a cliche it may be but I am finding the more I listen to it, the more I like it. It's not the same as Exciter, Violator or any other DM album and that makes it and all those other ones, special.

I am, still don't like "Eternal", but the rest of it's grand.

Happy to report that my wife really likes "Going Backwards" too, I like her style.

Yes, still has that classic DM whatever "old school" Dm sound is, it has it, great sing along (not that they all aren't) this one just seems easy to grasp the lyrics, love it,

Still listen to some songs but it's not one I listen to from start to finish like the older albums . I think it's better than Delta Machine but for me it's not among their best . Overall the sound direction was still too close to Delta Machine . I want them to try something very different .

Absolutely. But it's not in heavy rotation, because it's a bleak album. No complaints there. It's the kind of album that I play from time to time when I am in the mood for it, and thus it has a stronger impact. It's a brilliant album. Dave said the producer John Ford wanted it to be a 10-track album. They didn't do that, of course. I'm sure that's because Dave and Martin wanted their songs on the album. The only one I would have deleted is Poorman. The others are all crucial for me. And what a strong opening and ending to their album, with Going Backwards and Fail.
