Could well be that Woman in chains is the inspiration for Stay

the former being a far far superior song to the Gahan/Knox affair

am listening to stay now, this is not much like woman in chains at all

Woman in chains
You better love loving and you better behave
You better love loving and you better behave
Woman in chains, woman in chains

Calls her man the great white hope
Says she's fine, she'll always cope, ooh
Woman in chains, woman in chains

Well, I feel lying and waiting is a poor man's deal (A poor man's deal)
And I feel hopelessly weighed down by your eyes of steel
(Your eyes of steel)
Well, It's a world gone crazy keeps woman in chains, woh woh woh
Woman in chains, woman in chains

Trades her soul as skin and bones
(You better love loving and you better behave)
Sells the only thing she owns
(You better love loving and you better behave) ooh ooh
Woman in chains (the sun and the moon), woman in chains

Men of stone, men of stone, hey baby, no no no, ooh

Well, I feel deep in your heart there are wounds time can't heal
(The time can't heal)
And I feel somebody somewhere is trying to breathe
Well, you know what I mean
It's a world gone crazy keeps woman in chains

It's under my skin but out of my hands
I'll tear it apart (somebody somewhere is trying)
But I won't understand (to breathe)
I will not accept the greatness of man
It's a world gone crazy keeps woman in chains
Gone crazy keeps woman in chains

So free her, so free her, so free her
So free her, so free her (the sun and the moon)
So free (the wind and the rain) her, so free her
So free her, so free her, so free her, so free her
So free her, so free her (the sun and the moon)
So free (the wind and the rain) her, so free her
Stay
She's softly breathing next to me
A shining angel sent to me
From where she came it's hard to say
Tiny star she guides my way
When we were lovers
We both discovered
Stay, you can leave tomorrow
Stay wait until tomorrow
Please stay
Living here in shades of grey
Colour she light a reason to stay
From where she came it's hard to stay
Tiny star she guides my way
The discussion between my hubby and me was purely about the music.... the sound....and I'm still not totally convinced, LOL

I don't know if my husband is also negative or what, but he "listens" a song of The Cure (don't remember which one) in the guitar intro of "Hidden houses".

the 2 songs are very different... I had never even thought about them being similiar. You hubby is just finding an excuse to diss anything to do with DM mine does it from time to time!!!! He is jealous of the "other man" in your life!!!

I made the mistake of telling my guy I wished he looked so good in a 3 piece suit. I think there is some jealousy now. I probably shouldn't have compared. Oops! On topic, I like both songs and don't feel they are alike. :D
