Anybody upset about Goodnight Lovers not closing the show now?

Postby Thoughts.Echo.Eternal » Sat Jul 29, 2006 6:37 pm

What I personally felt was a bold move by the band to end the shows the way they wanted, more intimate, by playing Goodnight Lovers, has been abandoned for a "rocker" end. Did Mode choose to do this because of so many people complaining about the quiter show end, or just to mix things up? I'm curious. Goodnight Lovers was a great and very different show closer for them.

No, I'm not upset about it. Of the 2 shows I saw, they finished with Goodnight Lovers at one and Photographic and NLMDA at the other. Personally thought NLMDA was a fantastic one to end on. Although I love Goodnight Lovers I didn't think much to it being played to end a show. I thought they did it just because it has "Goodnight" in the title. It's a good song but it didn't make the show go out with a bang.

Yes I agree
It was a lovely way to end the show.
I hope they didnt change it because thats what they felt some/a lot of fans wanted.
NLMDA is great at the end,but GL was better.
In fact the first leg set list was better.
I dont like the some bizzare version of photographic and feel the live 83/84 version would have been much better.
And I still cant understand why EC and JCGE was dropped??

If I wanted "Lovely" I wouldn't go to see DM! I would go to see Neil Diamond or something! Ballads are fine and good but they are for the middle of a show.

Just my opinion.......... :)

I wasn't sure "goodnight lovers" was a good final song but I would have loved to hear it once again instead I had only a chance.

I agree, it was a bold move and it really worked. They just decided to make a couple of change for the 3rd and 4th leg, especially when they were playing in some areas they did play in the first two legs.

I am VERY happy that the DROPPED Goodnight Lovers completely from the setlist. NLMDA is a great closer and as someone else pointed out, ballads are for the middle of the set.

Just my wworthless opinion :-)

I'd rather leave a DM concert all pumped up after a faster paced song than leaving feeling all calm after such a great show. I was happy with the change.
